Each year Bournemouth University students travel to India for a cultural immersion programme, aimed at providing them insights into the world’s largest democracy.
Destination India—as the programme is known—is hosted by the Symbiosis International University, Pune. Its objectives are:
- Promote a better understanding of India, its history, and its cultures
- Prepare participants to work effectively in a globalised world by exploring themes such as cultural diversity, cultural intelligence and inter-cultural communication in the India context
Destination India participants attend sessions on globalisation, international politics, and the media, with particular emphasis on India and its place in the global society.
As a continuation of the cultural interaction, Symbiosis students also spend time at Bournemouth University.
This year’s Destination India programme is scheduled in April, while the Destination England—when Indian students visit England—will take place in May.
You can see a chronicle of the experiences on the Destination India and England programmes on Cross Country, a blog produced by the participants.
